Job Description

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is a well-established non-profit organization dedicated to serving the blood supply needs of more than 150 hospitals across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. As a vital part of the healthcare community, LifeSouth operates over 45 donor centers, 55 bloodmobiles, and organizes approximately 2,000 blood drives every month. This extensive network underscores LifeSouth's commitment to ensuring the availability of a safe and reliable blood supply for patients and hospitals within the region. Founded on a strong mission, LifeSouth strives not only to provide high-quality blood components and services but also to support ongoing and emerging blood and transfusion-related activities.

The role of Purchasing Manager offered at LifeSouth Community Blood Centers in Gainesville, FL, is a crucial leadership position responsible for overseeing vendor selection, negotiations, and the procurement of all materials, supplies, equipment, and services essential to the organization’s operations. This full-time role demands a highly organized, results-driven individual who will manage purchasing policies, examine bids, and ensure compliance with all established guidelines. By working closely with internal departments such as receiving and quality assurance, the Purchasing Manager will ensure proper supply management, cost monitoring, and vendor accountability. The role also entails negotiation of blanket purchase orders, invoice resolution, and handling any discrepancies or delays in deliveries.

In addition to the core purchasing functions, the Purchasing Manager is expected to demonstrate strong supervisory capabilities with the ability to delegate tasks efficiently and generate informative reports. The role requires critical thinking, decision-making aligned with regulatory standards, and exceptional customer service skills to foster beneficial vendor relationships. Candidates must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel occasionally. This position is integral to maintaining LifeSouth's operational excellence and the organization’s ongoing mission to deliver high-quality blood products throughout the communities it serves.

LifeSouth values its employees by offering a comprehensive benefits package that includes generous paid time off, medical, dental, and vision insurance, supplemental insurance options, mental wellness resources, and a retirement plan with employer contributions. By joining LifeSouth as a Purchasing Manager, you become part of a dedicated team focused on making a meaningful impact in healthcare through the critical support of blood transfusion services.
