The role of the Line Cook is essential within our kitchen brigade, responsible for preparing menu items accurately in accordance with established recipes and yield guides. The successful candidate will take on leadership responsibilities by directing, training, and monitoring the performance and productivity of other Line Cooks. This position demands a detail-oriented individual who maintains cleanliness, organization, and sanitation across work areas and equipment, ensuring the kitchen environment complies with health and safety regulations. The Line Cook will also manage the allocation of production and prep work, communicating any changes promptly during the shift to adapt to operational demands. Attention to mise en place setup and proper closing duties is crucial, as is effective communication with the Sous Chef for inventory requisitioning to guarantee smooth daily operations.

The ideal candidate must bring extensive experience working in hotel, resort, or restaurant kitchen environments, demonstrating proficiency across all stations on the line. A valid food handling certification is required, underscoring the significance of safe food preparation practices in this role. Job Requirements

  • 5 years experience as a Line Cook at a hotel or resort or restaurant
  • Ability to work all stations on the line
  • Food handling certification required
  • High work ethic and self-initiative
  • Ability to work varying schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Physical ability to work in a standard office environment
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach and carry items as needed
  • Ability to lift and move 10-25 pounds
  • Visual ability to read computer screens and printed materials
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing

Job Duties

  • Prepare all menu items following recipes and yield guides
  • Direct, train, and monitor performance of Line Cooks
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and sanitation of work areas and equipment
  • Prepare and assign production and prep work for Line Cooks
  • Review priorities and communicate additions or changes during shifts
  • Set up work station with required mis en place, tools, equipment and supplies
  • Breakdown work stations and complete closing duties
  • Inform the Sous Chef of supply requisition needs
