Currently, PJS of Texas, Inc. is seeking a part-time Floor Technician to join their team. Operating in a dynamic environment, the Floor Technician will be responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness and appearance of hard surface and carpeted floors across multiple sites in Austin. This role requires hands-on experience with floor care techniques including stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, and bonneting. The technician will perform duties that are crucial to preserving the safety and aesthetic standards of the facilities they serve.
In this part-time role, the Floor Technician works primarily between 6pm and 11pm, allowing for flexible scheduling ideal for individuals seeking supplemental income. The hourly wage ranges from $16.00 to $18.00 depending on experience, and the company ensures that employees are fairly compensated for mileage and commuting, which is a valuable benefit for those traveling between job sites throughout the city.
The Floor Technician's responsibilities include operating both high and low-speed buffers, using chemical dispensing units safely, and managing carpet cleaning machines such as bonneting and extractors. Additionally, the technician must respond promptly to emergency floor care needs such as spills, body fluid cleanup, and other urgent situations, using universal precautions to maintain hygiene and safety.
Beyond floor maintenance, the role may include light janitorial duties and basic preventative maintenance on equipment, emphasizing the need for versatility and a proactive work ethic. The Floor Technician is expected to comply with company policies, participate in mandatory staff meetings, and wear the company uniform at all times to maintain professional standards.
Ideal candidates will have at least one year of prior experience in floor care but PJS of Texas, Inc. is willing to provide training to motivated individuals without extensive backgrounds in this field. Candidates must also possess a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and ability to pass a criminal background check. Physical fitness is essential since the job requires bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, reaching, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Job Requirements
- Minimum one year of experience as a floor technician is preferred but willing to train the right candidate
- Must have driver’s license
- Clean driving record
- Able to pass a criminal background check
- Wear company uniform while on duty
- Ability to understand and follow directions from the Manager
- Attend mandatory staff meetings
- Follow company policies and procedures
- Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull and lift a minimum of 50 lbs
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Provide slick floor services, such as stripping, waxing, spray buffing, sweeping, and mopping, to include proper edging on all floor surfaces
- Used both high speed and low speed buffers and burnishing equipment on slick floors, applied proper chemical for stripping, waxing, and buffing of slick floors, using chemical safety
- Used slow speed carpet bonneting machine on all carpeted floor, in a safe and efficient manner, cleans all carpet, used carpet extractor on all carpets as scheduled
- Cleaned baseboards throughout the facility, responded to floor care emergency calls, such as spills, body fluids, and markings, using proper equipment to clean area, always using universal precautions
- Disinfected floor care equipment after each use, completed simple preventative maintenance tasks on floor care equipment, vacuumed all floors as scheduled
- Move office furniture and supplies in order to clean
- Complete work assignments on a timely manner
- Utilize the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure
- Follow all proper safety procedures
