As one of the most diverse community college districts in the region, LBCC fosters an inclusive, equitable learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed. The college offers a comprehensive range of educational programs including transfer degrees, general education, vocational, and occupational training tailored to meet the needs of a wide spectrum of adult learners. With campuses including the Liberal Arts campus and the Trade, Technology and Community Learning campus, LBCC caters to students seeking education in traditional, online, evening, weekend, and off-campus formats, providing flexible learning opportunities to accommodate varying schedules and lifestyles.

Effective communication, commitment to student-centered learning, and the ability to integrate new interactive technologies, whether in on-campus or online instructional settings, are essential aspects of this role.

LBCC values faculty who demonstrate sensitivity to cultural, socioeconomic, disability, and ethnic diversity among its students. Preference is given to candidates with experience or background in hospitality operations such as purchasing and cost control, catering and banquet management, and food and beverage management. Additional desirable credentials include familiarity with Learning Management Systems, Food Safety Manager Certification, culinary industry experience, and skills in culinary arts, baking, and pastry. These qualifications ensure that part-time faculty can offer students relevant, practical knowledge aligned with industry standards and workforce needs.

Candidates interested in joining the hospitality faculty pool at Long Beach City College should be prepared to submit comprehensive application materials including resumes, official or unofficial transcripts verifying educational credentials, and supplemental equivalency applications if minimum qualifications are not met verbatim. The college facilitates accommodations for applicants with disabilities during the application process in compliance with ADA standards.

In summary, this role offers a chance to impact students positively within a supportive and diverse community college setting, helping adult learners achieve their academic and career goals in the field of hospitality management.
