Job Description
Turner Construction is a renowned leader in the commercial construction industry with a history that spans 120 years, marked by iconic projects globally, including ten of the world’s tallest buildings. As a general contractor, Turner prides itself on its commitment to innovation, quality, and safety, which has established the company as a trusted partner in various markets, from data centers to pharmaceutical renovations and commercial spaces. The Omaha office specifically exemplifies Turner’s dedication to community and relationships, actively engaging with trade partners, local businesses, and non-profit organizations to bolster Nebraska’s framework and support local development. This commitment to community, diversity, equity, and inclusion is embedded into Turner’s culture, ensuring every employee feels represented, supported, and able to reach their full potential. Turner’s projects are known for their complexity and ambition, reflecting the technical expertise and dedication of its people who continue to set industry standards.
The role of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist with Turner Construction in Omaha is a critical position focused on maintaining and elevating workplace safety standards on construction projects. This salaried, exempt position involves providing essential training and guidance to project teams to promote safe work practices and enforce adherence to EH&S protocols and legal requirements. The EH&S Specialist works proactively to identify potential hazards, implement controls, and cultivate a culture of safety across project teams, including subcontractors and trade employees. Responsibilities include overseeing compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, collaborating with safety representatives, and contributing to the development of comprehensive safety programs. This position requires an individual who is not only knowledgeable about construction safety principles but also possesses strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate safety protocols and foster collaborative relationships on-site. Moreover, the role entails developing and reviewing safety documentation such as Job Hazard Analyses and Pre-Task Plans, conducting safety audits and trainings, administering drug screening programs, and analyzing safety metrics to recommend continuous improvements. This is not a remote or hybrid role; it requires being physically present at Turner’s Omaha office or project locations and involves some travel. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, leadership capability, and a proactive approach to maintaining the highest safety standards in a dynamic construction environment. Turner’s comprehensive approach to safety, combined with its commitment to employee development and community engagement, makes this an exceptional opportunity for experienced safety professionals seeking to contribute meaningfully in a supportive and challenging setting.
