The Project Engineer role at Baker Construction is a pivotal position that supports the planning, coordination, and execution of large-scale treatment and industrial projects. A key focus of this role is to enhance Baker Waters' self-perform construction capabilities, which means taking direct control of significant portions of the work to improve schedule reliability, cost management, and the overall craftsmanship of projects. The Project Engineer will play an integral part in constructing and commissioning wastewater treatment plants, water reclamation facilities, and water treatment systems, with a strong emphasis on managing self-perform work to maximize operational efficiency and quality.
This position requires a detail-oriented and proactive professional who can handle various responsibilities, including maintaining and distributing contract documents, managing RFIs and submittals, supporting quality control measures, and assisting in the preparation of proposals and change orders. The role also involves maintaining as-built drawings, organizing operational manuals, guarantees, and warranties, and ensuring all project closeout activities are completed thoroughly.

Job Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in water/wastewater construction or related heavy civil work
- BS in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline
- Working knowledge of construction practices, scheduling, and safety protocols
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Bluebeam preferred
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Strong technical and mechanical aptitude
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Maintain and distribute contract documents, addenda, field orders, RFIs, and RFPs
- Review and track shop drawings and submittals for specification compliance
- Support project quality control efforts, including deviation reports, pre-pour inspections, and testing requirements
- Coordinate RFIs among owners, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors
- Assist in preparing proposals and owner change order requests, including pricing of self-perform work
- Maintain "As-Built" drawings and prepare project close-out documentation
- Collect and organize O&M manuals, guarantees, and warranties
- Help maximize efficiency and quality through effective use of self-perform work
