The Now Baking - Pastry II Cook role at Starbucks Reserve Kitchen is an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals passionate about baking and pastry arts. This position plays a critical role in supporting the bakery production by preparing a variety of pastries such as quick breads, tarts, cakes, muffins, cookies, pies, and desserts that align with the high standards of Starbucks Reserve. Under the guidance of the Head Pastry Chef and Lead Pastry Cook, the Pastry II Cook contributes to production planning, execution, and ensures adherence to quality and sanitation standards. The position calls for individuals who can work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume culinary environment while demonstrating precise attention to detail and a commitment to Starbucks’ principles and policies. The role requires baking expertise, including forming pastry dough, scaling recipes, mixing batters, proofing and baking doughs, and confectionary work. Pastry II cooks also maintain critical documentation like date lot tracking sheets and HACCP temperature logs to comply with food safety protocols.

Job Requirements
- 2+ years baking or pastry in a professional kitchen – commercial kitchen a plus
- current Health Code Certification (preferred)
- ability to work on your feet for long periods of time
- ability to lift and carry 35lbs on a consistent basis and up to 55lbs occasionally
- ability to adhere to strict personal hygiene and standards of dress consistent with policy
- attention to detail
- passion for learning culinary arts
- ability to work quickly and efficiently while executing at a high level
- competent knife skills
- data entry
- basic working knowledge of computers
- basic math and English skills

Job Duties
- Supports the Lead Pastry Cook and Head Pastry Chef in the production of designated pastry items in accordance with established recipes
- receives ingredients and other supplies from main kitchen and/or pantry as required for daily operations
- works independently in high-volume amounts: forming tarts, mixing and portioning cookie doughs, prepping syrups/glazes, and sheeting pastry doughs
- forms pastries into uniform portions with knife or divider, mixes cake batter, sheets pastry dough using appropriate equipment and places in pans
- proofs dough and bakes in oven
- scaling recipes for production
- familiar with using gram/kilogram scales and units of measure
- assists in confectionery work per recipes
- maintains date lot tracking sheets and HAACP temp logs when necessary
- performs other duties as assigned by their leader in support of the kitchen
