Job Description
CSA Group is a globally recognized standards development and product certification organization dedicated to making the world a safer, better, and more sustainable place. Founded nearly a century ago in Canada, CSA Group has evolved over the years from developing its first engineering standard for railway bridges in 1919 to currently managing over 3,500 standards, codes, and related products. The company operates internationally, with a footprint that includes more than 30 laboratories and offices strategically located across Europe, Asia, and North America. CSA Group's comprehensive services encompass testing, inspection, and certification of a vast array of products, ranging from everyday household items to advanced technological innovations. This ensures that these products meet stringent requirements related to safety, performance, and environmental impact, thereby enhancing consumer confidence and promoting global trade.
The Product Safety Engineer role at CSA Group, based in Cleveland, Ohio, is a pivotal position within the organization’s product certification division. This role is full-time and regular employment status and offers growth potential for dynamic individuals who possess a systematic and process-oriented mindset. Reporting directly to the Product Group Managers, the engineer will play a crucial role in maintaining CSA Group’s reputation as a leading authority in certification. The primary responsibility is to oversee the safety certification process for new and innovative fueled appliance products, ensuring they comply with applicable national and international standards including CSA and ANSI. The ideal candidate will be capable of independently managing multiple projects while maintaining rigorous attention to detail and meeting project deadlines. This role demands a profound understanding of engineering principles, relevant standards such as ANSI Z21 series, and the ability to review and evaluate complex product submissions.
This position requires evaluating products against established standards, reviewing test data, preparing certification reports, and authorizing the use of certification marks. The Product Safety Engineer will collaborate closely with laboratory technicians to design and order tests according to required standards and will be responsible for thorough construction evaluations to confirm compliance or note any discrepancies. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, project and time management abilities, and the expertise to interpret engineering drawings and apply technical knowledge effectively. This role is integral in supporting CSA Group’s mission to impact lives positively by certifying safe and reliable products worldwide. CSA Group fosters an inclusive and equitable workplace environment, offering employees an opportunity to engage in meaningful work contributing to global safety and sustainability initiatives.
