Job Description
The Village at Gainesville is a vibrant senior living community nestled on a sprawling 104-acre campus located just 10 minutes away from the bustling shopping centers, theaters, and restaurants located in Gainesville, Florida. Gainesville is renowned for its exceptional quality of life and consistently ranks as one of the best places to live and work in the United States. Home to the University of Florida and Santa Fe College, the city offers a rich cultural environment and an engaged community that supports personal and professional growth of both residents and staff. The Village is dedicated to creating a caring, supportive, and enriched environment where older adults can thrive and enjoy their daily lives in comfort and dignity. Emphasizing a family-like atmosphere, The Village considers residents not just as guests but as members of a true home community. The staff's commitment to passion, friendliness, and hard work creates an atmosphere that positively impacts residents' well-being on multiple levels—intellectual, social, emotional, spiritual, and physical.
The PRN Assisted Living Activities Coordinator role at The Village is a vital part of this thriving community. This position operates on an as-needed basis, providing support primarily by covering staff absences, assisting during special events, and handling periods of increased activity demand, which requires flexibility and weekend availability. Reporting to the Assisted Living Activities Supervisor and operating under the direction of the Life Enrichment Manager, the PRN Activities Coordinator focuses on delivering engaging programs that enrich the lives of assisted living residents. The coordinator leads various life enrichment activities tailored to the unique needs and preferences of the residents to encourage participation and create meaningful social interactions. A key part of the role includes facilitating events, preparing necessary supplies, and assisting in setup and cleanup efforts. The coordinator also supports new resident orientation by helping newcomers become familiar with the community and their daily routines.
Exceptional customer service is essential, as this role involves frequent interaction with residents, families, guests, and other staff members. The coordinator must be attentive to resident concerns and preferences, offering individualized support with compassion and respect, especially when working with seniors who may have cognitive impairments such as dementia. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Windows, PowerPoint, Excel, and word processing, are crucial for documenting activities, tracking participation, and reporting feedback to supervisors. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, a calm and encouraging demeanor, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to enhance the resident experience. Physically, the role demands stamina to lift supplies up to 30 pounds and engage in event setup and breakdown as well as conducting activities that may involve walking or mild exercise, both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Working at The Village is more than a job; it’s an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of older adults. The community fosters a supportive environment where staff can grow their careers while contributing to a positive living experience for residents. If you have a passion for engaging seniors and facilitating enriching activities, this PRN Assisted Living Activities Coordinator position offers a fulfilling chance to join a compassionate and dedicated team committed to excellence in senior care.
