Job Description

A distinguished private family based in Austin, Texas, is seeking a full-time Private Family Chef & House Manager to join their household team. This is a unique long-term opportunity tailored for a polished and highly skilled professional who excels in delivering an elevated private-home service experience. The family comprises two adults and three children, requiring a candidate who can balance refined culinary expertise with the preparation of fresh, nutritious, and appealing meals for children.

The hiring family is looking for someone who not only possesses a sophisticated culinary background but also demonstrates exceptional house management capabilities. Ideally, the candidate will have extensive experience in fine dining, luxury hospitality, private households, or high-end catering environments. The primary focus of the role is to provide exceptional culinary services, creating restaurant-quality dishes for the adults while catering to the dietary needs and preferences of the children with healthful and flavorful meals. Fresh, organic, locally sourced, and seasonal ingredients form the foundation of the cuisine catered by this candidate. The role demands the preparation of a variety of meals including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, with an emphasis on balanced, family-style dining.

In addition to culinary duties, this position encompasses comprehensive household management responsibilities to ensure that the home runs seamlessly. The House Manager component involves overseeing daily household operations, coordinating errands, managing household inventories, scheduling with service providers and vendors, and maintaining impeccable organization throughout the home. The candidate will serve as a trusted and proactive presence within the household, anticipating the family’s needs with discretion and professionalism.

This position requires the highest level of integrity, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality, as the professional will become an integral part of the family’s daily life. The role offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, and the family vehicle is provided for professional use. Candidates must currently reside in Austin, TX, and be available to work five full days per week, with flexibility to accommodate special events, entertaining, travel, and schedule adjustments.

The ideal candidate will be an accomplished culinary professional with a passion for fresh, high-quality ingredients and a refined cooking technique. Experience creating menus that balance sophisticated adult cuisine with healthy, approachable meals for children is highly valued. Proven skills in kitchen and inventory management, food safety, and sanitation are essential. Beyond the kitchen, the perfect candidate will demonstrate strong household management instincts, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to work independently with a forward-thinking, anticipatory approach.

This role also demands excellent communication skills and a calm, composed demeanor under changing priorities or last-minute requests. Professional presentation and a respectful, collaborative attitude are equally important. The family values a "no task is too small" mindset—someone who anticipates and resolves issues before they arise, contributing to a welcoming and effortless home environment.

Candidates with backgrounds in Michelin-starred kitchens, James Beard-recognized restaurants, luxury hospitality, or private household service are encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will enjoy a competitive salary, benefits, and the opportunity to become a valued member of a private family household dedicated to excellence in culinary and household management.
