Job Description
Nectar is a vibrant and inclusive company deeply rooted in the cannabis industry, known for its dedication to quality products and exceptional customer service. As a collective, the Nectar family brings together a diverse group of hardworking and talented individuals who share a strong passion for cannabis and an unwavering commitment to supporting their community. Located in Portland, Oregon, Nectar prioritizes creating a positive work environment where employees feel valued and engaged. The company emphasizes inclusivity, equal opportunity, and celebrates diversity, making it a welcoming place for professionals from various backgrounds to thrive and contribute meaningfully.
The role offered by Nectar is ideal for a skilled and health-conscious Chef who is passionate about preparing nourishing, whole-food, organic meals specifically tailored to support the wellbeing of employees. This position involves managing an on-site corporate lunch program, where the chef will curate meals that align with anti-inflammatory dietary practices by avoiding sugar, wheat, and butter while utilizing healthy fats such as avocado oil and olive oil. The chef will work closely with the management team to schedule food preparation, ensuring fresh lunches are served on-site and additional convenient "heat-and-eat" meals are prepared in advance for employee consumption throughout the workweek.
This opportunity is designed for a culinary professional who enjoys creativity and collaboration within a community of like-minded individuals who value nutritious eating habits. The Chef will be responsible for meal planning that focuses entirely on whole-food ingredients, with no pre-packaged or boxed items allowed. Additionally, the ideal candidate must possess excellent organizational skills and take pride in maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment during and after food preparation. The schedule is flexible but generally consists of approximately two full days per week, typically Mondays and Wednesdays, providing a work-life balance while contributing significantly to the workplace culture through the power of wholesome food.
Compensation for this role starts at $25.00 per hour, depending on experience, and the successful candidate will operate as an independent contractor, managing their own insurance, certifications, and kitchen tools. This arrangement allows for professional autonomy, enabling the chef to take on other clients and opportunities while delivering high-quality meals for Nectar's team. Situated at 18032 NE Airport Way in Portland, this role is an excellent fit for culinary professionals seeking to combine their passion for health-oriented cooking with a dynamic, mission-driven company environment. Nectar's commitment to equity, diversity, and employee wellbeing makes it a standout choice for chefs who want to make a meaningful impact through food.
