Job Description
ShopRite is a well-established supermarket chain known for its commitment to providing customers with high-quality fresh produce, groceries, and exceptional customer service. As part of a large network of grocery stores across various regions, ShopRite focuses on maintaining a clean, organized, and friendly shopping environment for all its patrons. The company prides itself on fostering a workplace culture that supports the growth and development of its employees while promoting safety, efficiency, and compliance with all industry regulations. ShopRite offers competitive benefits including vision, dental, life insurance, and legal plans, as well as paid time off and retirement benefits aligned with their collective bargaining agreement. They operate under the principles of quality assurance (QA) and adhere strictly to health and safety standards to ensure the well-being of both customers and staff. ShopRite is currently seeking motivated individuals for the role of a Stocker, a pivotal position within the store's operational framework.
The Stocker position at ShopRite is designed for individuals who are dedicated to maintaining the store's cleanliness, organization, and ensuring that products are properly handled and stocked in compliance with store policies. This role requires the ability to interact positively with customers, provide accurate and friendly service, and assist in various store-related tasks. Stockers play a crucial role in upholding the company’s sanitation and quality standards by cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces, utensils, and equipment regularly. They also ensure that the floors are clear of debris and spills to promote a safe shopping environment. The position entails handling damaged or returned products with special attention to refrigerated and perishable goods, managing sell-by dates to minimize waste, and reporting any equipment malfunctions promptly.
Physical fitness is critical in this role, as it involves standing or walking throughout the shift, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and regularly lifting weights up to 25 lbs, with occasional lifting of up to 75 lbs. Working in varying temperatures and exposure to dust and cleaning agents are expected conditions. Stockers must also be knowledgeable about the products sold in the store, including fresh, dried, and processed goods, spices, and powdered substances, handling them safely according to the company’s Hazard Communication (HAZCOM) program and manufacturer’s label instructions. Dressing according to company policies and applying QA handwashing standards, along with using disposable gloves while handling food, are mandatory.
The role operates on a part-time schedule averaging 20-25 hours per week, with flexible hours that may include days, evenings, and weekends based on business needs. New hires receive comprehensive paid training that must be completed within the first 30 days, covering both web-based and hands-on components. Punctuality, attendance, efficiency, and productivity are emphasized as essential expectations. Individuals must be at least 18 years old to operate certain machinery, such as balers, hi-los, power jacks, and slicing machines.
Overall, this position is ideal for candidates who are hardworking, reliable, and eager to contribute to a dynamic retail environment that values customer satisfaction, safety, and operational excellence. ShopRite offers a supportive workplace with opportunities for working within a well-known retail brand that provides valuable employee benefits and a positive atmosphere for career growth.
