Job Description
Lionheart Children's Academy is a reputable educational institution dedicated to providing Christ-centered care and education for children. The academy prides itself on maintaining a nurturing environment where children can grow academically, socially, and spiritually. As a dedicated childcare and educational facility, Lionheart Children's Academy integrates high standards of service, aligning with both state licensing and accrediting requirements to ensure a safe, hygienic, and stimulating atmosphere for children. The Academy values inclusivity, diversity, and equal opportunity employment, focusing on merit and qualifications while fostering a respectful workplace free from discrimination. They uphold strong ethical standards and welcome applicants who embrace their mission and are committed to professional and personal growth. Located within a community-focused setting, Lionheart Children's Academy supports its staff with ongoing training and development initiatives, emphasizing child development, nutrition, and the spiritual growth of children and their families.
The position of Kitchen Manager/Cook at Lionheart Children’s Academy is a pivotal role that anchors the nutrition program and the overall food service operations within the school. This role not only includes managing meal preparation and serving but extends to overseeing custodial services to maintain the kitchen and associated facilities in pristine condition. The Kitchen Manager/Cook is responsible for planning and purchasing meal items, ensuring the preparation of balanced meals and snacks that meet nutritional standards suitable for children. Regular collaboration with program administrators and nutritionists is fundamental to align the food service program with the wider activities at the Academy, ensuring a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
With an emphasis on compliance, the role demands familiarity with minimum standards, the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines, nutritional content, proper meal portioning, and stringent recordkeeping. The position also requires responsibility for the safe sanitation of kitchen equipment and the maintenance of a hygienic workspace daily. Beyond meal-related tasks, the Kitchen Manager/Cook supports classroom activities by assisting teachers with food and cooking experiences that enhance the educational curriculum.
Additional responsibilities include simple laundry tasks, participation in ongoing in-service training focused on child development, adherence to staff handbook policies, and active participation in staff meetings and special functions. Maintaining current certifications in First-Aid and CPR is mandatory, highlighting the Academy’s commitment to safety and emergency preparedness. Candidates should bring not only cooking and nutrition expertise but also a spiritual commitment aligning with the Academy’s Christian mission. The ideal candidate will exhibit warmth, excellent communication skills, self-motivation, professionalism, and a willingness to pursue further studies in child development or nutrition.
This full-time role offers a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about making a difference in children’s lives through quality nutrition and service in a faith-based educational environment. The Academy promotes a culture of respect, continuous improvement, and community engagement, making it an excellent workplace for those who share these values and seek to contribute meaningfully to their community’s youth development.
