The Prepared Foods team member role at Whole Foods Market is a dynamic and integral position within the retail environment. This role involves supporting the preparation, service, sanitation, and stocking of prepared foods, ensuring high-quality product presentation and customer satisfaction. The position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with other team members and leaders to maintain operational efficiency and uphold the brand’s core values. Team Members are expected to be proactive, engaging with customers, providing product samples, and assisting with merchandising and inventory tasks. The duties encompass a wide range of activities such as preparing and cutting various hot and cold foods including meats, cheeses, sandwiches, wraps, salads, and pizza. Additionally, Team Members stock displays, rotate products for freshness, handle recyclables, and assist with inventory management and spoilage documentation. The physical aspect of the job includes lifting up to 50 pounds, standing and walking for extended periods, and operating equipment such as knives, electric pallet jacks, and other tools safely.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • able to stand/walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
  • hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • able to perform motions such as bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposed to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Cuts, prepares, and serves a variety of hot and cold foods including meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, salad, and pizza
  • samples products to customers
  • stocks hot and cold cases and displays with prepared foods from kitchen, walk-in preparation, and refrigerators
  • checks in-stock product dates to ensure freshness and rotates when necessary
  • bails and consolidates recyclables
  • assists Team Leader in organizing and displaying volume and seasonal items
  • completes spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required
