This role focuses on the preparation, counter service, sanitation, and stocking of products within the Prepared Foods department. Team Members in this position ensure that all prepared foods meet Whole Foods Market’s strict quality standards and are properly labeled, dated, and rotated to maintain freshness and safety. The role demands a strong emphasis on customer service, requiring courteous, friendly, and efficient interactions with both customers and fellow Team Members. Additionally, Team Members assist in maintaining clean, organized walk-ins and freezers, effectively manage waste and spoilage documentation, and adhere to all health and safety regulations. This entry-level position offers an hourly wage ranging from $15.00 to $24.40, commensurate with experience. Job Requirements
- No prior retail experience required
- must be able to lift 50 pounds
- standing or walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
- single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling hand use
- ability to bend, twist, squat and reach
- exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- exposure to temperatures less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), greater than 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- ability to work in wet and dry conditions
- ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
- may require use of ladders

Job Duties
- Assist with production for all Prepared Foods venues
- ensure all prepared foods are properly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated
- ensure product meets Whole Foods Market guidelines for quality and preparation
- document waste and spoilage using appropriate forms
- ensure product production is performed using correct measuring devices and all recipes are followed
- help customers understand the difference between Whole Foods Market products and products at conventional stores
- ensure that walk-ins and freezers are kept clean and well-organized
- arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
- work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings
- provide excellent customer service, address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and model suggestive selling techniques
- answer phones and pages promptly and courteously
- maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
- follow and comply, or ensure compliance, with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
- maintain, or ensure maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
- maintain equipment in accordance with Whole Foods Market cleanliness and safety standards
- perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
- ensure accuracy of signs and pricing
- immediately report safety hazards and violations
