This Prepared Food Cook position is a full-time role that involves preparing and cooking various deli and bakery food items under the guidance of the Department Manager. The candidate will be responsible for arranging, preparing, portioning, and cooking food according to company specifications and standards. Additionally, this role demands a strong focus on food safety and compliance, including sanitizing workstations and equipment, monitoring food temperatures, and adhering to strict freshness and date control protocols.

The Prepared Food Cook must also maintain a clean and orderly work environment, manage department products efficiently to minimize waste, and assist with merchandising and display activities according to company guidelines. The role requires attention to detail in recording hot food tracking statistics and alerting management about any irregularities such as theft or safety hazards. This position operates within a dynamic work environment where employees interact with various kitchen tools and equipment such as chicken fryers, rotisseries, stoves, slicers, and electronic scales.

Candidates for this position should have at least a high school diploma or GED and possess basic skills related to food preparation and safety compliance. While supervisory experience is not mandatory, the ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential. Language skills in English are required, with a preference for bilingual candidates fluent in both English and Spanish.

The work shifts can vary, offering potential flexibility but requiring availability to meet the department's operational needs. The role does not involve overnight travel, meaning the primary focus remains within the store environment. Job Duties

  • Provide continuous attention to customer needs
  • greet, assist and thank customers in a prompt, courteous and friendly manner
  • arrange, prepare, portion and cook food according to company specifications
  • offer product suggestions when appropriate
  • sanitize work station and equipment including chicken fryers, rotisserie, hot case, stove, and utensils
  • stock and rotate department products to ensure freshness and date control
  • restock and use supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and to maintain the lowest supply cost
  • operate department equipment and tools including scale, printer cash register
  • understand and follow required daily varieties, case color merchandising, "ready by" times, and shelf life guidelines
  • keep work area clean, orderly and free from safety hazards
  • report faulty equipment and hazards to management
  • monitor food temperatures
  • change out pans, utilize hot bar production guide, prepare product for self service display, break down hot case and monitor portion control
  • record hot food tracking chart statistics
  • notify management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized mark-downs, property defacement or any action that is illegal and/or against company
