Job Description

Agawam Hunt is a prestigious and historic country club established in 1897, recognized as one of the original 25 USGA Member Clubs. Located in Rumford, just minutes from downtown Providence, Rhode Island, it offers a welcoming, family-friendly environment with year-round recreational facilities that are among the finest in New England. The club's amenities include an 18-hole Donald Ross-designed golf course, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, pickleball, platform tennis, squash, swimming pools, and a vibrant community atmosphere that embraces families and individuals alike.

Agawam Hunt is committed to providing an exceptional experience through its premier Food & Beverage program, which complements its recreational offerings. The club's culinary team is known for sourcing the best ingredients and maintaining sustainable practices while serving a diverse membership. For the summer season of 2024, Agawam Hunt is actively seeking qualified individuals to join their dynamic culinary team, including positions such as Short Order Cooks, Prep Cooks, and Line Cooks.

These roles offer an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced and energetic environment, particularly from May through October when the club operates its full spectrum of food and beverage services, including poolside lunch service. The positions emphasize teamwork, initiative, and a positive, customer-focused attitude, with the ability to work both indoors and outdoors. Candidates are expected to be self-motivated, energetic, and willing to learn, with a readiness to bring their unique talents and personalities to the team.

The Short Order and Prep Cook roles involve preparing and cooking a variety of lunch items such as sandwiches, salads, burgers, and poke bowls, ensuring high standards for taste and presentation. Maintaining a clean and safe workstation, collaborating with kitchen staff, managing inventory, and accommodating special dietary requests are key responsibilities. Qualifications for these roles include strong knowledge of food preparation, knife handling, and food safety, along with good communication skills and flexibility regarding work hours.

The Line Cook position requires a motivated individual with at least four years of cooking experience or exceptional culinary education. Responsibilities include meal preparation, cooking according to established recipes, maintaining cleanliness, and contributing to a team-oriented kitchen environment. The role offers unique opportunities to engage with whole animal breakdown techniques, farm-to-table produce handling, and food preservation projects such as fermenting and foraging.

Agawam Hunt values professionalism, high standards in food presentation, and a collaborative team culture. Competitive salaries, potential for year-round employment, career advancement, access to club amenities such as golf and racquet sports, and complimentary meals during shifts are among the benefits offered. Joining Agawam Hunt means being part of a culinary tradition that emphasizes excellence, sustainability, and a warm community spirit, ideal for dedicated culinary professionals passionate about delivering exceptional dining experiences.
