Job Description

Proof of the Pudding is a renowned award-winning catering company operating throughout the Southeast, celebrated for its commitment to crafting quality culinary concepts from scratch. With a long-standing reputation for excellence, the company has expanded into Sports and Entertainment Hospitality Services, supplying elevated concessions and premium dining experiences to a variety of high-profile venues. These include collegiate stadiums, PGA golf tournaments, International Boat Shows, and professional sports teams among others. The company prides itself on innovation, quality, and delivering memorable culinary experiences that satisfy diverse clientele across large-scale events.

As an operator at Wake Forest University, Proof of the Pudding is seeking Prep Cooks to join their team responsible for preparing food at athletic events held on campus. This role is a seasonal, part-time position that offers competitive pay ranging from $18 to $22 per hour, depending on experience, and includes on-the-job training in a dynamic environment located in one of North Carolina's most scenic venues. Working as a Prep Cook with Proof of the Pudding means gaining valuable experience in the food service industry, particularly in a fast-paced, event-driven setting. The position requires flexibility as work schedules depend on athletic events, including home football and basketball games.

Prep Cooks will play a vital role in supporting the culinary team by preparing ingredients, following detailed prep lists, and ensuring hygiene and food safety standards are met rigorously. Responsibilities include setting up and sanitizing workstations, measuring ingredients accurately, producing simple dishes under the guidance of the Executive Chef, and ensuring proper storage of food items. The job also includes supervising food temperatures, accepting or rejecting deliveries, and maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment. Being part of this team means working closely with other chefs and staff to maintain the highest food quality and safety standards while supporting guests' enjoyment of game day events.

The work environment involves moving throughout the campus and stadium grounds, managing physical demands such as lifting up to 40 pounds, operating kitchen equipment, and navigating diverse event spaces. Uniform compliance, including wearing non-slip shoes, is mandatory to ensure safety. This position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to enhance their culinary skills in a professional setting while engaging with a vibrant sports and entertainment crowd. Proof of the Pudding supports team members by offering opportunities for advancement, a free meal while working, and a flexible work schedule that fosters work-life balance outside of peak event days.

Proof of the Pudding is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace. All applicants receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, disability, or other legally protected characteristics. This makes the company a welcoming and supportive employer for culinary professionals seeking growth and meaningful contributions in a reputable catering organization with a strong presence in the Southeast region.
