Job Description
Snowbird is a renowned resort nestled in the heart of the Wasatch Mountain Range in Salt Lake City, Utah, famous for its breathtaking views, challenging terrain, and vibrant outdoor culture. Known primarily as a winter destination, Snowbird also thrives in the summer season, making it a unique and dynamic resort that offers full-time, part-time, and seasonal employment opportunities. The resort not only attracts visitors who share a passion for the mountains and outdoor adventures but also employs individuals who are equally passionate and dedicated to maintaining the high standards of service and experience Snowbird is known for. This establishment prides itself on fostering an inclusive work environment that values diversity, promotes respect, and encourages professional growth, making it an ideal workplace for those who enjoy a high-energy atmosphere and a sense of community.
The position available is for a Prep Cook at The Summit restaurant within Snowbird. This full-time role offers a competitive hourly wage of $19. The Prep Cook is an integral part of the kitchen team, responsible for preparing cooking ingredients such as washing, chopping vegetables, and cutting meat, as well as maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen. The role demands a commitment to food safety and quality standards, requiring employees to follow food handling procedures closely and to assist in various kitchen duties. This position is perfect for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments and have a positive attitude towards teamwork and multitasking.
As a Prep Cook, you will be expected to consistently demonstrate professionalism and reliability by arriving on time and adhering to the uniform policy. You will handle ingredients with care, properly label and stock items for efficient access, and participate in ongoing employee training to enhance your skills and knowledge. Daily duties include measuring ingredients, preparing basic dishes such as salads and appetizers, and maintaining a clean workspace by following established cleaning protocols. Communication with chefs and other kitchen staff is crucial to ensure smooth kitchen operations and exceptional meal preparation.
This role also requires flexibility in scheduling as it involves working varied shifts including weekends and holidays. Additionally, due to the resort's mountain location, employees must be prepared for occasional overnight stays if road closures occur, and must be able to travel to Snowbird resort reliably. Physical demands of this job include the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
Snowbird offers a variety of benefits to its employees, including ski passes and complimentary tickets for resort use, discounts at eateries, retail shops, mountain school, lodging, and daycare services on the property. Health benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and accident insurance are available depending on employment status, alongside a 401(k) plan. Employees also enjoy free transportation options to and from work, including UTA bus services, rideshare vans, and employee blue shuttles, enhancing ease of commute.
In summary, this role at Snowbird provides an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about the outdoors and food service, looking to join a supportive team in an exceptional mountain resort setting. It is an ideal position for those seeking a job with flexible hours, a collaborative environment, and ample benefits while indulging a love for nature and outdoor sports. Snowbird stands as an equal-opportunity employer, committed to fostering diversity and inclusion across all levels of employment.
