This position is primarily responsible for preparing ingredients and setting up stations in compliance with company recipes, specifications, and quality controls. Operating in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, the Prep Cook must exhibit strong organizational and multitasking capabilities to maintain efficient workflow. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout the kitchen is also a critical aspect of this role to comply with health regulations and company policies. The ideal candidate demonstrates punctuality, a proactive attitude, and a willingness to assist fellow kitchen staff as needed. Physical stamina is essential, as the role requires standing for extended periods, frequent bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in conditions that vary in temperature and noise levels. Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- minimum experience in fast paced, high volume restaurant environment
- ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds
- ability to stand and exert mobility for up to eight hours
- use of cut gloves required
- reliable punctuality and attendance
- ability to work in varied temperature and noise conditions
- good grooming and personal hygiene
- effective communication in English
- must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Job Qualifications
- experience as a pantry, prep, or line cook in a fast paced, high volume, premium casual restaurant preferred
- experience with fresh products preferred
- ability to taste and distinguish flavors, spices, and temperatures
- effective communication skills in English
- ability to understand and follow recipes and instructions in English
- ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- physical stamina to stand, bend, lift, and move for extended periods
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
Job Duties
- report to work on time and be at the prep station as scheduled
- prepare food according to specifications during and after operating hours
- retrieve necessary food products from storage areas
- prepare equipment, utensils, and ingredients for station operation
- report any issues promptly to sous chef or executive chef
- rotate and restock pantry and supplies following first in first out (FIFO) procedures
- check and maintain par and stock levels prior to shift
- assist other kitchen staff with food preparation and side work
- complete all station closing duties accurately
- maintain sanitation and cleanliness of prep areas
- adhere to uniform and personal hygiene standards
- follow all safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions
- perform additional duties as assigned
