The position open is for a Prep Cook, an hourly paid, non-exempt role reporting directly to the Culinary Services Manager. This vital role supports the cooks in preparing and serving various menu items while adhering strictly to proper recipes and food preparation procedures. The Prep Cook is tasked with multiple responsibilities that include assisting in food preparation, ensuring the freshness and nutrient preservation of meals, and maintaining cleanliness in all kitchen areas. This role also requires monitoring storage areas for proper labeling and organization to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. The Prep Cook collaborates with the Culinary Services Manager to discuss menu preparation and recipe adjustments, contributing to the planning and preparation of special events as necessary.
The role requires an individual with strong organizational skills and a commitment to maintaining high kitchen sanitation standards. The Prep Cook is expected to track food production and temperature logs accurately, which is critical for food safety and quality control. Providing exceptional customer service to both residents and team members is a key component of this position. In addition to their culinary tasks, Prep Cooks may occasionally assist as a Cook, demonstrating flexibility and readiness to support the kitchen team as needed. This role demands physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, and work long or irregular hours that may extend into evenings and weekends. A Food Handler Card must be obtained within 14 days of hire, and proficiency in English communication, both oral and written, is required for effective interaction within the team and customer service.

Job Duties
- Assist cooks preparing all food items following proper recipes and procedures
- Ensure all food items are prepared in a timely fashion to ensure freshness
- Prepare all foods in a manner to preserve freshness and nutrients to meet dietary requirements
- Meet regularly with Culinary Services Manager to discuss menu preparation and recipes
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and sanitation
- Monitor storage areas for proper labeling, dating, cleanliness, and organization
- Assist with planning and preparing of special events
- Track all production and temperature logs
- Provide high level of customer service to residents and team members
- Attend assigned meetings as required
- Assist as a Cook as needed
- Perform other assigned duties as necessary
