The Cook position at 305 West End Assisted Living is an essential role within the Food Services department, tasked with contributing directly to the wellbeing and enjoyment of residents through the culinary experience. The role involves working in a busy, fast-paced kitchen environment where a passion for cooking and a kind heart for seniors are paramount. The successful candidate will prepare, season, and cook meals that meet established standards for taste, nutrition, and presentation, ensuring residents’ comfort and satisfaction. Job Requirements

  • Experience working in food preparation in a busy environment
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions with minimal supervision
  • Capable of working Sundays
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Commitment to quality and care in food preparation

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in a busy kitchen or food preparation area
  • Ability to follow health and safety standards
  • Experience in restaurant, catering, hospital, hospitality or healthcare food services is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to understand and follow English instructions
  • Proven ability to adhere to rules, policies and sanitary standards

Job Duties

  • Help prepare food for meal service including chopping, measuring and mixing ingredients according to recipes
  • Ensure all procedures adhere to health department and company regulations
  • Check food temperatures prior to serving meals
  • Garnish plates before they leave the kitchen
  • Assist with other kitchen functions such as dishwashing, utilities, line cook and prep cook duties
  • Follow instructions from the Director of Food Service or Sous Chef
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and sanitation standards
