Job Description
Hotel Lucile, a distinguished hospitality establishment, is set to open its newest property, Casetta, in the vibrant Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles in late summer 2026. This charming 25-room boutique hotel is housed in a historic 1931 church, featuring preserved original elements such as stained glass windows, soaring wooden beams, and a unique choir loft. Casetta seamlessly combines classic architectural beauty with modern amenities including a restaurant, bar, rooftop, and pool. Moreover, the hotel hosts a dynamic program of art and community events, positioning itself as a cultural hub in the area. As part of a forward-thinking hotel group, Hotel Lucile emphasizes community involvement, artistry, and a high standard of guest experience, fostering a welcoming and innovative work environment.
The role of Prep Cook at Casetta offers a unique opportunity to be part of the opening team, helping to bring this extraordinary space to life. This full-time position pays $20 per hour and includes an attractive benefits package comprising 401k with company match, health, dental, and vision insurance for full-time employees, holiday pay, paid vacation, opportunities for company growth and leadership development, professional advancement prospects, maternity and paternity leave for full-time staff, and travel perks and discounts at other hotel properties.
The Prep Cook is essential to the culinary operations at Casetta, playing a pivotal role in preparing ingredients and supporting the kitchen team to maintain efficient workflow and deliver consistently high food quality. The position involves daily tasks such as chopping vegetables, preparing meats, seafood, sauces and dressings according to standardized recipes, and managing proper storage including labeling and dating to ensure food safety and freshness. This role requires strict adherence to sanitation standards, HACCP procedures, and maintaining organized, clean prep stations and storage areas. The Prep Cook will also assist line cooks during service, manage inventory rotation through FIFO practices, report kitchen issues, minimize food waste, and contribute to opening, closing, and deep cleaning duties. The role demands flexibility in scheduling including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, making it ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Hotel Lucile is not only invested in its guests but also in its team members, providing a supportive workplace that encourages professional growth and leadership development. Employees are valued as key contributors to the hotel's success and culture, with clear pathways for advancement and skill enhancement. The inclusion of comprehensive benefits, from health and family leave to travel discounts, underscores the organization's commitment to work-life balance and employee well-being. Joining the team at Casetta means becoming part of an exciting venture that combines historic charm with innovative hospitality practices, fostering a strong community spirit and dedication to excellence. Whether you are an experienced cook looking to grow your career or someone passionate about culinary arts eager to join a vibrant new team, this role offers a rewarding and enriching experience.
