Job Description
Balance Grille is a vibrant, fast-casual restaurant with multiple locations in Toledo, Ohio, including Sylvania, Perrysburg, and Downtown Toledo. Known for its fresh, vegetable-forward dishes, Balance offers a unique dining experience that combines quality ingredients with innovative menu options like vibrant bowls, tacos, snacks, and hand-shaken bubble tea. The restaurant prides itself on fostering an energetic, quality-driven, and teamwork-oriented environment where every team member contributes to making fresh food that delights guests and stands out in the fast-casual dining market. The company values a culture of growth, positivity, and excellence, which reflects in its hiring and operational practices. With competitive pay starting at $14 per hour, weekly pay cycles, open availability schedules, and benefits such as flexible scheduling and free meals, Balance Grille is committed to creating a rewarding workplace for its employees.
The Prep Cook, or "Ninja," role at Balance Grille is an essential position that supports the kitchen's backbone by ensuring that every ingredient is prepared with precision and care before it reaches the line cooks who assemble the meals. This role is designed for energetic individuals who enjoy a fast-paced environment and take pride in their contribution to the overall dining experience. As a Prep Cook (Ninja), you will be responsible for preparing fresh ingredients accurately, following recipes and portion standards, and maintaining food safety and cleanliness standards. Your knife skills and prep techniques will be continuously developed through training and practical experience, enabling you to maintain high quality and efficiency in your work.
In addition to ingredient preparation, the Prep Cook will help maintain the kitchen’s organization by inspecting ingredients to ensure freshness, following inventory management practices such as First In, First Out (FIFO), and keeping all prep areas, coolers, and work surfaces spotless and compliant with health codes. You will receive and organize deliveries and contribute to a smooth and efficient kitchen operation. The ideal Prep Cook is a self-starter who is hardworking, detail-oriented, and a team player with a positive attitude. Being coachable and reliable in attendance and performance is key to success in this role.
Joining Balance Grille means becoming part of a team-focused culture that values growth opportunities, including cross-training and chances for raises as you develop your skills. Employees benefit from weekly pay, free meals during shifts, flexible scheduling with holidays off, and a dynamic, fast-paced working environment. The company supports individuals who thrive under pressure, bring enthusiasm to their work, and share the commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience consistently. If you are ready to develop your culinary skills in a supportive, engaging, and quality-driven setting, Balance Grille offers the perfect opportunity to grow your career as a Prep Cook (Ninja).
