Based in Tempe, AZ, this company operates a portfolio of innovative dining establishments, including the celebrated Postino WineCafe, which is renowned for its unique blend of eclectic ambiance, high-quality wines, and fresh, flavorful small plates. Upward Projects Holdings prides itself on nurturing a vibrant workplace culture built on core values such as authenticity, integrity, teamwork, and delivering extraordinary results. By embracing these principles, the company has established a reputation for excellence in the restaurant industry and continues to expand its reach through thoughtful growth and meaningful community engagement. Employment with Upward Projects Holdings as a Prep Cook offers not only a competitive hourly wage of $16-19 but also an enriching environment where culinary professionals can thrive and develop their skills within a supportive team setting.
The role of Prep Cook at Upward Projects Holdings is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen and the delivery of high-quality food to guests. This position involves performing routine culinary tasks with precision and care, including the preparation of ingredients, following established recipe standards, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. A Prep Cook works under the guidance of chefs, cooks, or food service managers, contributing to the kitchen’s efficiency and productivity while committing to the brand’s high standards. Success in this role requires excellent knife skills, a strong passion for fresh and premium ingredients, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
At Postino WineCafe, part of Upward Projects Holdings, the culture revolves around mutual respect, learning, and career advancement. The establishment supports team members’ culinary and beverage development, offering unique opportunities such as pursuing Sommelier and Cicerone certifications with reimbursement upon completion. Beyond technical growth, the company fosters meaningful workplace relationships and recognizes each individual’s contributions with rewards and meaningful acknowledgment. Employees benefit from a comprehensive perks package including meal discounts, earned paid sick time, a 401K plan with company match, flexible spending accounts, and access to medical, dental, and vision insurance once eligible.
Postino WineCafe is distinguished by its inspired approach to the wine bar segment. It began as a vision to create communal gathering spaces in historically significant locations, reflecting Northern Italian influences and serving fresh bruschetta boards paired with global wines and craft beer. The menu is designed to encourage sharing and connection, reinforcing the company’s mantra of inclusivity - “come one come all.” For Prep Cooks, this means working in an innovative, guest-focused setting where their efforts directly contribute to memorable, high-quality experiences.
Overall, a career as a Prep Cook at Upward Projects Holdings offers not just a job but a genuine pathway for growth within a respected and rapidly expanding restaurant group. Team members are empowered to be authentic, show humility, bring positive energy, and achieve exceptional results in their collaborative efforts. This role presents an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals passionate about developing their craft while contributing to a brand that truly values people and community.
