We are currently seeking a full-time Prep Cook who has a passionate desire to serve older adults and contributes to our ongoing mission of delivering outstanding culinary service. This role is essential in ensuring that all hot food items are prepared with precision, quality, and care according to established recipes and production guidelines. The Prep Cook will not only prepare meals but also maintain a high standard of hygiene and sanitation in the kitchen area. This role requires attention to detail, efficiency, and flexibility to respond to daily changes, special functions, and resident needs. The successful individual will be part of a dedicated culinary team focused on enhancing the dining experience of our community members by consistently producing food of high quality in specified quantities.

The job requires meticulous attention to food temperatures and quality, proper handling and storage of leftovers, and a commitment to cleanliness and safety. On-the-job training is provided to ensure the individual is well-equipped to meet the demands of this role. Candidates do not need prior experience but should be mentally alert, capable of following recipes and schedules, and motivated to excel in a community-centered environment.

Job Requirements
- Ability to read and write
- Basic knowledge of food preparation principles
- Ability to use kitchen equipment
- Mentally alert and accurate in measuring ingredients
- Capable of preparing high quality food in specified quantities
- Ability to stand, walk, sit
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Ability to push minimum of 200 pounds a distance of 200 feet
- May be exposed to communicable diseases
- Willingness to assist in emergency evacuations
Job Qualifications
- Ability to read and write and implement own work schedule
- Basic knowledge of the principles of food preparation and garnish
- Ability to use certain kitchen equipment
- Mentally alert and possesses accuracy in measuring food ingredients and portions
- Must be able to prepare foods of high quality in specified quantities
- Experience desirable but not required
- Training will consist of one week on-the-job training
Job Duties
- Prepares all hot food items required on the menu for all meals
- Accurately prepares dishes according to recipes
- Prepares food items as required by following the production sheets
- Communicates daily regarding changes, problems, special functions, etc.
- Records food temperatures each meal and serves at the acceptable level
- Washes and sanitizes all large equipment used in preparation
- Keeps work area clean, sanitize bucket
- Utilizes all overproduced food items appropriately
- Wraps, labels, dates, and stores all over-produced food items
- Performs all duties as assigned
