Ugly Dumpling is a vibrant and innovative restaurant specializing in handcrafted dumplings and Asian-inspired cuisine. Known for its commitment to quality, creativity, and exceptional customer service, Ugly Dumpling has established itself as a beloved dining destination. The restaurant prides itself on using fresh ingredients and maintaining a welcoming, fast-paced environment where culinary excellence meets friendly hospitality. As a growing establishment, Ugly Dumpling fosters a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture that values skill development and teamwork. They support their employees in delivering memorable dining experiences that highlight authentic flavors with a modern twist.
The Prep Cook position at Ugly Dumpling is an essential role responsible for supporting the kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, assembling recipes, and maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the work environment. This part-time to full-time employment opportunity offers 20-40 hours per week under the supervision of the Culinary Manager, ensuring a structured yet flexible schedule for candidates seeking to grow their culinary skills. The Prep Cook will be integral to ensuring that the kitchen runs smoothly, all while upholding Ugly Dumpling's high standards for quality and consistency. The role involves a variety of food preparation tasks such as washing, chopping, slicing, and measuring ingredients to meet specific recipe requirements. Attention to detail is paramount as the Prep Cook assembles fillings, sauces, and other components accurately, labels and dates all prepared items properly, and follows precise food safety and sanitation protocols.
Beyond food prep, the Prep Cook is expected to assist with setting up and breaking down prep stations, cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces and equipment, managing waste disposal, and collaborating effectively with the kitchen team to prioritize tasks during service. The position also requires effective communication with the Culinary Manager or Corporate Chef about any supply shortages, equipment malfunctions, or other issues that may affect kitchen operations. Candidates will benefit from previous kitchen experience but will also be supported through training, especially if they demonstrate a strong willingness to learn, physical stamina, and a positive attitude. This position may also involve assisting with line cooking or dishwashing during peak periods to ensure a seamless dining experience for customers. Ugly Dumpling is proud to maintain equal employment opportunities and foster a diverse and supportive work culture for all employees.
