Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 3-6 months related experience
  • keyboarding and computer skills
  • ability to file accurately
  • professional communication skills
  • excellent customer service skills
  • previous experience with hospital-based computer programs preferred
  • proficiency in organizing, alphabetizing, and prioritizing tasks
  • excellent math skills
  • ability to use basic office equipment
  • ability to maintain confidentiality of medical information
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to maintain positive customer service
  • ability to work collaboratively with office staff
  • ability to maintain highest level of confidentiality
  • capacity to handle mental and visual fatigue from CRT work
  • physical ability for walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, and light lifting
  • ability to register patients and confirm demographic and insurance information
  • experience with electronic insurance verification system
  • ability to collect payments and enter charges
  • skills in scheduling according to provider preferences
  • ability to maintain patient medical records and confidentiality
  • ability to perform office duties such as mail distribution, copying, filing, faxing, and ordering supplies
  • ability to compose and proofread correspondence and reports
  • commitment to a clean and safe work environment
  • ability to manage special projects
  • ability to perform additional assignments as directed
  • ability to maintain unsupervised access to medication rooms for stocking supplies

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3-6 months related experience in medical or office setting
  • prior experience with medical insurance preferred
  • keyboarding and computer skills including familiarity with practice management software
  • excellent communication and customer service skills
  • ability to organize and prioritize tasks
  • proficiency in basic math
  • knowledge of confidentiality policies
  • ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • adherence to hospital safety and infection control procedures

Job Duties

  • Answer phones and direct calls
  • greet patients and perform check-in procedures
  • schedule and coordinate patient appointments, tests, and referrals
  • maintain patient medical records and ensure confidentiality
  • enter charges and payments into practice management system
  • determine patient copayments and collect payments
  • perform clerical duties such as sorting mail, filing, and ordering supplies
