The Orange County Convention Center, part of Sodexo's extensive service locations, is currently seeking a Banquet Porter for on-call part-time work, offering a competitive pay rate of $18.50 per hour. This role involves working varying shifts and requires open availability. The Banquet Porter plays a crucial role in supporting banquet and catering event operations by assisting with the setup, teardown, and movement of furniture, equipment, and supplies necessary for events. It ensures banquet spaces are clean, organized, and prepared according to event specifications and timelines, contributing significantly to the seamless execution of events.

Working closely with supervisors, captains, and banquet service teams, the Banquet Porter supports event delivery through tasks that vary depending on event size and business needs, including on-site and off-site catering functions. Key responsibilities include maintaining banquet and service areas, replenishing supplies during events, and adhering to safety standards including the ability to lift heavy items up to 50 pounds. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in banquet setup, event support, or hospitality preferred
  • Valid TIPS, TEAM, or equivalent alcohol service certification may be required
  • Food handler certification may be required based on local regulations
  • Ability to work flexible shifts with open availability
  • Capacity to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds
  • Punctuality and reliability in attending scheduled shifts

Job Duties

  • Assist with setup, teardown, and movement of furniture and equipment for events
  • Ensure banquet rooms and service areas are clean, organized, and prepared
  • Support banquet service staff by replenishing supplies and removing items during events
  • Lift and move objects frequently up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
  • Report to scheduled shifts on time and consistently
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on business and client needs
  • Collaborate closely with banquet supervisors and service teams to ensure smooth event operations
