Job Description
BRC is a dedicated organization committed to serving New Yorkers experiencing homelessness by providing essential services aimed at restoring hope, dignity, and self-sufficiency. With over 1000 full-time, part-time, and per-diem staff across multiple boroughs including Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Queens, BRC has established itself as a crucial safety net in the community. The organization's mission is to offer a comprehensive support system and opportunities that empower individuals to reclaim their lives and achieve stability. BRC places a strong emphasis on employee wellbeing and professional growth, fostering an environment where staff can thrive personally and professionally while making a meaningful difference in the lives of their clients.
The role available at BRC is a full-time position requiring a commitment of 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30pm. This position is crucial in supporting the logistical and operational aspects of BRC's service programs. The individual will be actively involved in the transportation of clients to various appointments, housing placements, detox centers, and other necessary locations. Additionally, the role includes the delivery and pick-up of supplies and program documents between different BRC programs and Department of Homeless Services facilities, ensuring smooth and efficient operations across the organization. Maintaining the cleanliness of both the interior and exterior of the facility is part of the daily responsibilities, along with receiving and storing all deliveries securely.
This role requires a dependable and proactive individual who can assist with related duties as assigned, contributing broadly to the organization’s mission. The ideal candidate will have good interpersonal skills, a valid New York State driver’s license, and the physical capability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds. Being a member of the Fire Safety Team is also a required aspect of the role, highlighting the responsibility for maintaining a safe environment for both staff and clients.
At BRC, employees are part of a team that makes heroic contributions to their city by providing vital services in times of crisis and ongoing need. The organization boasts an employee satisfaction rate where 95% of staff would recommend BRC as a good workplace, reflecting a supportive and positive work culture. The company encourages career development through tuition assistance and numerous training opportunities. Employees also benefit from flexible spending accounts for healthcare, transit, and childcare costs.
The benefits package is comprehensive, including immediate eligibility for health insurance and paid sick time upon starting employment. Full-time employees receive competitive health and dental insurance that extend coverage to spouses, domestic partners, and dependents. Additionally, there is a pension plan with matching contributions from BRC, generous paid vacation, multiple paid holidays, and personal time off. Although vaccination is preferred, it is not mandatory, underscoring BRC’s commitment to flexibility and employee choice.
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the community while working in a supportive, mission-driven environment that prioritizes employee growth and wellbeing. Prospective candidates who are motivated by making a positive impact and who meet the qualifications are encouraged to consider joining this compassionate and dynamic team.
