Job Requirements

  • minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in custodial or maintenance roles

Job Duties

  • Assigns the work and work areas of subordinate staff for a 7-day week work schedule
  • checks time sheets
  • prepares vacation schedules
  • determines need for and requests additional staff as necessary
  • completes and processes work order forms
  • regularly inspects, evaluates and makes spot checks on various work areas for cleanliness and proper service
  • makes corrections and reports where indicated
  • ensures that standard infection, control, safety, and waste management procedures are observed and enforced
  • explains procedures and methods to subordinates by written and oral instructions, demonstrations and other training methods
  • interprets departmental rules, regulations and policies to subordinates
  • reports and refers incidents or maintenance problems to proper institution personnel
  • requisitions, replenishes and issues custodial supplies, equipment, and other limited supplies
  • ensures that supplies are adequate for completion of assigned work
  • ensures proper handling and care of materials, equipment and supplies
  • makes personal contacts with patients, other institution personnel and the general public
  • gathers, prepares and maintains ordinary operating records and reports
  • assists in developing intra-unit methods and procedures related to routine manual cleaning tasks
  • may perform other duties as assigned
