The role of Service Porter at AutoNation is a vital position focused on maintaining and servicing vehicles, ensuring they are clean, safe, and ready for customers and dealership personnel. This role involves a variety of responsibilities including assisting with service write-ups, tagging customer cars and trucks, and removing vehicle protective coverings before vehicles are returned to customers. The Service Porter must inspect vehicles meticulously for stains, debris, or damages, reporting any issues immediately to maintain high standards of vehicle presentation.
In addition to vehicle maintenance, the Service Porter plays a key role in supporting customer and dealership staff by providing transportation services and performing deliveries as needed. The role also includes keeping the vehicle lot neat and orderly by moving units according to dealership display standards and returning keys to the appropriate service consultant. Other duties include picking up vehicles from storage, delivering vehicles, picking up parts from the Parts Department, testing batteries of customer vehicles, maintaining building and grounds, and assisting with shop clean-up and deliveries when required.

The ability to drive manual transmission vehicles and operate automobiles safely are essential. - 6-12 months of previous work experience preferred
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and information
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle machinery safely
- Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Ability to operate an automobile

Job Duties
- Assist with service write-ups and tagging of customer cars and trucks
- Remove vehicle protective coverings and ID tags prior to returning completed vehicle to customer
- Inspect vehicles for stains, debris and damages before returning the vehicle to the customer, and report any damage immediately
- Transport customers and dealership personnel as needed
- Perform deliveries as required
- Clean interior and exterior of new and used vehicles
- Keep vehicle lot neat and orderly, moving units as directed and in accordance with dealership display standards
