The role of Housekeeper/Janitor at FS Residential is a critical position that directly contributes to maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the community properties. This role involves advanced cleaning skills and training to ensure that all assigned buildings and outdoor areas reflect the highest standards of sanitation and orderliness. Housekeepers/Janitors working at FS Residential will perform a wide range of cleaning and maintenance duties, from sweeping, mopping, and dusting to specialized tasks like shampooing carpets and window cleaning. The position requires a strong attention to detail, the ability to properly use various cleaning equipment safely, and adherence to OSHA guidelines for handling hazardous materials.

This job is characterized by varied shifts working both indoors and outdoors, maintaining restrooms, floors, and all common property areas. The Housekeeper/Janitor is responsible for inspecting assigned areas daily and reporting any maintenance issues to the supervisor promptly, ensuring that security and safety protocols are followed at all times. The role is designed for individuals with prior custodial experience or an eagerness to learn, who also demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills.

FS Residential offers this position on a full-time basis with a competitive hourly wage of $16.00. Job Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs following appropriate safety procedures
  • Ability to work in an upright standing position for extended periods
  • Ability to crawl in small and tight spaces
  • Ability to work under various environmental conditions including heat, cold, wind, and rain
  • Ability to walk and climb stairs
  • Ability to handle, finger, grasp and feel objects and equipment
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to quickly and easily navigate property/building
  • Ability to repeat various motions with wrists, hands and fingers
  • Ability to respond to emergencies timely
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights up to 3 feet
  • High school diploma or equivalency preferred
  • Previous custodial experience preferred
  • Multiple language fluency is desirable
  • Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills required

Job Duties

  • Performs a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties including sweeping, mopping, shampooing, dusting, polishing, trash disposal, replacing light bulbs and window cleaning
  • Informs Supervisor of needed supplies
  • Maintains all cleaning solutions according to OSHA hazardous chemical requirements
  • Removes trash from premises and assists in emergency cleaning
  • Properly utilizes new equipment and follows safety procedures
  • Maintains friendly and professional attitude
  • Inspects all assigned areas daily and reports discrepancies to Supervisor
