Job Description

Core Spaces (Core) is more than just a real estate company; it is a people-centric business dedicated to fostering strong relationships alongside creating outstanding living spaces. Founded in 2010, Core is a vertically integrated real estate investment manager with expertise in acquiring, developing, and managing properties primarily in the student housing and build-to-rent (BTR) sectors. The company operates with a distinct philosophy that emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, all aimed at enhancing the resident experience. Core's commitment to these values helps drive its success in designing and operating residential communities that feature world-class amenities, progressive design, and hospitality-driven service.

At Core Spaces, the culture is defined by six key values: PUSH (Invent Better Places to Live), GRIT (We Got This), LIFT (Help Each Other Win), SHINE (Bring Your Full Self), UPHOLD (Never Break Trust), and GROW (Always Get Better). These principles guide every aspect of the company’s operations and its people, encouraging an environment where risk-taking and dreaming big are supported and encouraged. Core's portfolio includes over 74,440 student housing beds currently owned or managed, with an additional 53,860 beds in various development stages, as well as more than 3,000 BTR homes across high-growth metropolitan areas nationwide. This impressive scale reflects the company’s dynamic growth and leadership in the real estate market, focusing on quality and community impact.

Joining Core Spaces means becoming part of a culture that values belonging, inclusivity, and personal contribution. With a competitive pay structure, recognition incentives, paid flexible time off including holidays and parental leave, and wellness benefits like meditation app subscriptions, Core invests in the well-being and professional growth of its employees. Employees also benefit from comprehensive health plans, retirement options including 401(k) with matching, and various support programs like the Employee Assistance Program for confidential counseling.

The Porter role at Core Spaces is an essential on-site position responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the property grounds and amenities. This is a hands-on role where the porter ensures that the property retains its curb appeal and upholds Core’s high standards for presentation and resident satisfaction. Daily tasks include garbage removal and preparation for pick-up, mopping, cleaning, landscaping maintenance between professional visits, and maintaining pool cleanliness. Porters also arrange furniture and make sure that amenity areas remain inviting and pristine throughout the day.

This position requires physical stamina and flexibility, as porters might work beyond regular hours including evenings, weekends, and overtime due to move-ins and move-outs. The role demands the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly, alongside duties that may involve bending and stooping. While no formal education is strictly required, a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, and proficiency in simple computer tasks is helpful. Ideal candidates bring at least one year of experience in maintenance or a skilled trade, preferably within the student housing or multi-family industry.

Porters report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and play a vital role in ensuring that Core Spaces’ residential communities continue to deliver an exceptional living experience. This role, and the company as a whole, is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment where every employee’s voice is valued. Being part of Core Spaces means contributing to a future where better places to live are continuously invented and the resident experience is always improving, powered by a team that believes in pushing limits and growing together.
