The role of Polysomnographic Technician at Cedars-Sinai is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about sleep medicine within a high-caliber health system. The position is based within the LA Pulmonary department and is designed to function primarily during the night shift, with 10-hour shifts. The Polysomnographic Technician works directly under the clinical supervision of a sleep medicine physician. Responsibilities include preparing and supporting patients undergoing sleep studies, scoring polysomnograms, and managing home sleep study logistics. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification as Electroencephalogram technologist by ABRET
- Registered polysomnographic technologist CA license by BRPT or licensed respiratory care practitioner by Respiratory Care Board of California
- Minimum one year experience in polysomnographic technology and home sleep study scoring
- Ability to work nonexempt night shifts of 10-hour duration
- Strong patient care skills
- Compliance with flu vaccination requirements or valid medical or religious exemption
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
Job Qualifications
- Electroencephalogram technologist certification by ABRET
- Registered polysomnographic technologist CA license by BRPT or licensed respiratory care practitioner by Respiratory Care Board of California
- One plus years experience in PSG and home sleep study scoring
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work night shifts
- Excellent communication and patient education skills
Job Duties
- Work under direct clinical supervision of the sleep medicine physician to prepare sleep studies
- Support patients with positive airway pressure related issues
- Conduct polysomnogram scoring
- Oversee home sleep study logistics
- Set up and score home sleep testing devices
- Collect analyze and integrate patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs
- Determine final testing parameters and procedures in conjunction with ordering physician or clinical director
- Explain procedures and orient patients for sleep testing
- Select appropriate equipment and calibrate for testing
- Apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards
- Perform data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure artifact-free signals
- Identify correct and document artifacts
- Document routine observations including sleep stages clinical events changes in procedure and other significant events to facilitate scoring and interpretation
- Perform patient education and instruction appropriate for sleep testing
