Job Description

The position offered is a full-time, non-management culinary role based at The Westin Kansas City at Crown Center with a pay rate of $21.09 per hour. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about the culinary arts and eager to sharpen their skills in a dynamic kitchen environment. One of the exciting opportunities this position includes is a partnership with the Rouxbe Cooking School, which offers culinary associates access to a comprehensive online training program. This allows associates at all experience levels to enhance their knowledge and apply new techniques directly to their daily work, helping them advance their culinary careers within Marriott International.

In this role, the associate will be responsible for a broad range of food preparation tasks including portioning, chopping, weighing, and mixing ingredients. They will also wash and peel fresh produce, prepare cold foods, and cook items according to recipes and established quality and presentation standards. Proficiency in operating various cooking equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers is required, along with the ability to test food for proper doneness and maintain consistently high food quality. Additionally, the role involves setting up and breaking down workstations, serving food in appropriate portions, and ensuring the kitchen and tools are cleaned and disinfected according to safety protocols. Maintaining accurate food temperatures and adhering strictly to safety, security, and hygiene regulations is critical.

The culinary associate will also be expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills by speaking clearly and professionally with other team members while building and maintaining positive relationships. This role requires physical stamina and the ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds throughout the work shift.
