Job Description

Pizzana is a renowned restaurant located in Brentwood, CA, known for its artisan approach to pizza making. Founded in April 2017 by Daniele Uditi, an expert pizza maker from Naples, Italy, along with Candace and Charles Nelson, and Caroline and Chris O’Donnell, Pizzana has quickly become a beloved destination for pizza enthusiasts. The restaurant’s signature offering is its “slow dough” Neo Neapolitan pizzas, which have gained international acclaim and a dedicated following among celebrities and food lovers. Pizzana prides itself on innovation, commitment to fresh ingredients, and a menu that features seasonal and eclectic flavors, catering to a wide range of tastes. The environment at Pizzana emphasizes excellent customer service, cleanliness, community involvement, and fostering a great workplace culture. This commitment has made it a standout establishment in the competitive culinary landscape of Southern California.

The role of the Pizza Cook at Pizzana is pivotal in maintaining the restaurant's high standards and delivering an exceptional dining experience. This position reports directly to the General Manager and is accountable for preparing diverse food dishes in strict accordance with established recipes. The Pizza Cook will work closely with the back-of-house (BOH) team, including servers, food runners, expos, and managers, ensuring orders are prepared accurately and promptly. Attention to hygiene and food safety standards in line with Health Department regulations is a critical aspect of the role, as is maintaining the quality and consistency of the food served.

As a Pizza Cook at Pizzana, candidates are expected to embody the company’s core values, which include integrity, honesty, innovation, and a strong team-oriented spirit. The role involves meticulous preparation of various dishes, including meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and most importantly, Pizzana’s signature pizzas. Preparation methods will encompass broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing, and more using an array of kitchen equipment. The Pizza Cook must also uphold portion control, proper plating, and food presentation standards while managing food stock levels at their stations to ensure smooth service during busy periods.

Beyond cooking, the role entails active participation in training and menu memorization to become proficient in all aspects of Pizzana’s offerings. The Pizza Cook will also help maintain the kitchen environment by performing cleaning duties, managing waste and recycling, and supporting safety and sanitation protocols to protect both guests and employees. The position requires stamina and flexibility to stand and work in a dynamic, often fast-paced kitchen environment, with the ability to lift heavy items and adapt to varied temperature conditions and sensory challenges such as noise and allergens.

This is a part-time or full-time position offering a competitive wage of $18.25 per hour plus tips, along with a free meal during working hours. Pizzana encourages applicants who share their passion for culinary excellence and customer service to apply. The company also utilizes modern technology, including an Automated Decision System, to ensure a fair and thorough recruitment process. Overall, the Pizza Cook role at Pizzana offers an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative and respected team within a thriving restaurant setting, fostering career growth and culinary skill development.
