The Cook position at Creative Dining Services, based at the Auto-Owners Insurance Dining Center in Lansing, Michigan, offers a full-time, Monday through Friday schedule from approximately 6 AM to 2 PM, with no night or weekend shifts required. This role is integral to the kitchen team, focused on preparing fresh, high-quality, and nutritious food items that meet established recipes and menu standards. The ideal candidate for this role will have at least two years of cooking experience and a passion for maintaining food quality and safety standards. Although a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, it is not mandatory, making this opportunity accessible to a broad range of candidates.

The Cook will be responsible for using batch cooking techniques to efficiently manage inventory and prevent overproduction or waste. Safety and sanitation are paramount, so adherence to safe food handling, holding, and storage practices is critical. The position also entails maintaining a clean and safe work environment at all times and supporting other kitchen staff to ensure the smooth operation of the entire dining services program.   • Prepare food items in a timely manner according to established recipes and menus focusing on freshness quality and appeal
  • Utilize batch cooking techniques to avoid over or under production
  • Utilize safe food handling holding and storage techniques at all times
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times
  • Support other kitchen employees in assuring that the essential functions of the kitchen are performed adequately and appropriately
  • Removal of refuse as needed
  • Putting away and pulling stock as needed
