The role of Pharmacy Manager is a comprehensive leadership position responsible for managing all aspects of pharmacy practice in compliance with state and federal laws as well as corporate policies. The Pharmacy Manager is accountable for maximizing the financial performance of the pharmacy department through carefully monitoring budgets, controlling inventory, minimizing unauthorized overtime, and managing prescription pricing and generic utilization. In addition, the role involves performing all duties of a registered pharmacist and serving as a role model for the pharmacy team by exemplifying company values and providing frontline customer service.

The successful candidate will supervise and coach pharmacy staff, ensuring proper workflow, staff training, and adherence to ordering and inventory procedures. They will be engaged in developing and implementing sales plans and promotional initiatives to enhance pharmacy revenue and customer satisfaction. This position requires effective handling of customer complaints, managing third-party insurance profitability, and complying with all controlled substance regulations. The Pharmacy Manager will also participate in clinical services and public health initiatives, working closely with local physicians and community organizations to promote disease state management and wellness programs.

This job demands strong leadership skills, a commitment to confidentiality, and the ability to write reports and interpret prescriptions accurately. The candidate must be capable of scheduling staff efficiently to control labor costs and meeting budgeted goals for labor, volume, inventory, and sales. Independent travel to support business needs may be required. Candidates must be licensed pharmacists in good standing who are at least 21 years of age and have at least two years of related retail experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The Pharmacy Manager plays a critical role in fostering a safe, compliant, and customer-oriented pharmacy environment while driving business success and clinical excellence.

  • 2+ years related retail experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • minimum 21 years of age

  • license must be in good standing

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • perform all functions of a staff pharmacist and act as a role model for the pharmacy team
  • appropriately handle customer complaints and direct workflow to reduce customer wait times
  • develop, implement, supervise, and promote the sales plan and other sales initiatives as developed by the division pharmacy department
  • perform all the duties required and expected of a registered pharmacist in the state of employment and responsible for following all legal and company requirements
  • direct the pharmacy team to achieve warehouse utilization goals, avoid unnecessary overstock, reduce the number of fill on-arrival prescriptions, and ensure that all staff members are trained, aware of and follow proper ordering and inventory record keeping procedures
  • comply with all corporate mandated controlled substance operating procedures
  • monitor third-party or insurance profitability
  • handle third-party problems, rejections, and audits in a timely fashion
  • schedule all pharmacy staff members in a manner to help control or avoid unnecessary labor costs
  • maintain all pharmacy records required by state and federal laws and company policies
  • direct pharmacy to meet budgeted labor, volume, inventory and sales goals
  • perform effective detailing visiting local physicians and other community targets
  • promote, implement, and participate in public health initiatives and disease state management services
  • travel independently as needed to support business needs
  • supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties
  • complete performance reviews and provide direct feedback to direct reports
  • must be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
