This role, commonly known as a Retail Sales Associate or Cashier, is a full-time or part-time hourly position with a salary range of $16 to $18 per hour, depending on location and individual qualifications. Employees in this role are responsible for delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience through courteous, efficient, and friendly service at the cash register and throughout the store. The Retail Sales Associate engages proactively with customers and patients, greeting them, offering assistance with products and services, and ensuring that their needs are met satisfactorily. This role also involves handling sales transactions accurately, managing returns and exchanges, and operating pharmacy systems to provide up-to-date prescription status.

Beyond customer interaction, incumbents are tasked with maintaining the overall store environment by keeping merchandise counters clean, organizing displays, conducting inventory checks, and implementing asset protection procedures to minimize loss. The Retail Sales Associate promotes upselling and cross-selling opportunities by recommending products and companion items to customers and assisting them in locating merchandise within the store aisles. Compliance with company policies, state and local regulations regarding the sale of regulated products such as alcoholic beverages and tobacco, and adherence to Walgreens’ quality improvement programs, especially related to pharmacy operations, are essential aspects of the role.

Employees in this position also contribute to the upkeep of the store’s interior and exterior appearance, helping to create a neat, welcoming, and orderly environment.
