Job Description

Hawaii Loa Ridge is home to one of Hawaii's most prominent philanthropists and community volunteers who operates a distinguished 3-home estate with breathtaking views that include channels and pockets of nearshore reef structures. Notably, Koko Crater and Diamond Head embellish the landscape on either side of the estate, while the island of Molokai graces the horizon across the channel, adding to the serene and majestic atmosphere of the location. This unique setting creates an inspiring work environment for a skilled Personal Chef.

The role of Personal Chef at this esteemed estate is both demanding and rewarding, offering ample opportunity to showcase culinary creativity and personalized service. The successful candidate will be responsible for comprehensive meal planning, shopping for fresh and specialty ingredients, cooking tailored meals, and ensuring the meticulous cleanup of all dining experiences. The Personal Chef will also have the chance to manage a team of cooks or food preparation staff during special occasions, requiring leadership and organizational capabilities.

Meals prepared for the client and guests may range from formal sit-down dinners to buffet-style events, thus requiring versatility and adeptness in different culinary presentation styles. Close collaboration with the client is critical to understand and honor their preferences, which ensures that each meal plan is customized thoughtfully and executed flawlessly. Clients may have dietary restrictions or specific nutritional needs, including food allergies or specialized diets such as paleo, vegetarian, or raw food. Therefore, the chef's nutritional expertise and awareness of food safety standards are essential.

This position calls for a balance of creativity, precision, and professionalism, as well as a passion for culinary arts and client satisfaction. The successful applicant will have proven experience in meal planning, food buying, and preparation, alongside excellence in food handling and kitchen sanitation. Their skill set should include the ability to craft easy-to-understand preparation instructions and maintain a well-stocked pantry with the client’s favorite items. Continual improvement in culinary techniques and nutritional knowledge is encouraged.

The equity of being a Personal Chef here also lies in the opportunity to work in an environment that values the culinary arts as well as philanthropic and community engagement. The salary range offered is between USD 48,000 and USD 84,000 per year, reflective of the experience and skills required. Ideally, this position suits culinary professionals with a minimum of three years' experience, particularly those who have operated as a Personal Chef in private or semi-private settings, proving their ability to manage menus, marketing, finances, and operational elements independently.

Preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized Personal Chef Association in the United States but this is not mandatory. A thorough knowledge of food safety, sanitation, nutrition, and culinary trends is expected. The role demands dedication, a client-centered approach, and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences that uphold the estate's high standards. This is a unique opportunity for a personal chef looking to apply their culinary skills in one of Hawaii's most attractive and prestigious settings, combining a fair compensation package with the opportunity to grow within an esteemed private household.
