This particular role is that of a kitchen staff member specializing in food preparation and cooking. The successful candidate will be responsible for accommodating guests' needs by preparing and executing food orders precisely according to the company’s set recipes and procedures. The position is essential in ensuring that each dish served meets strict quality and presentation criteria. This role requires a keen understanding of kitchen operations, including equipment setup, operation, and cleaning, as well as the use and handling of cleaning chemicals according to safety guidelines. The employee will stock and organize the pantry and deliveries, work efficiently under various temperature conditions typical in kitchen environments, and support overall sanitation and safety in the workplace. This role operates in a fast-paced environment, demanding the ability to multi-task and collaborate effectively within a team. A current Food Handler’s Card is required where applicable, highlighting the importance of food safety standards in this role.

The kitchen staff member will also be expected to operate the point of sale (POS) system, learn and advise guests on the menu options including modifications for dietary restrictions such as allergies or gluten-free requirements, and consistently uphold the restaurant’s dress code and cleanliness practices. This position requires commitment to quality service, problem-solving abilities, and self-motivation to maintain smooth kitchen operations. Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • must possess a current Food Handler’s Card where applicable
  • ability to stand and walk for four to ten hours each shift
  • ability to reach, bend, balance and transport objects up to 30 lbs repeatedly during a shift
  • must be able to hear with 100 percent accuracy with correction
  • must be able to see at 20/20 vision with correction

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of cooking and knife handling skills
  • previous prep or line cook experience
  • ability to prepare and present menu items with cook time requirements
  • understand how to modify dishes due to guest requests such as allergies or gluten free
  • reading, writing, and math skills
  • ability to speak clearly and listen attentively
  • understanding of English language
  • ability to work in a team environment
  • ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook all food menu items to company specifications
  • stock pantry station fully before the shift
  • setup, operate, breakdown, and clean all kitchen equipment
  • properly handle all chemicals used in the building
  • consistently use all prep tools and equipment following safety guidelines
  • operate the POS system
  • learn restaurant menu and recipes and guide guests in choosing menu items including modifications for dietary needs
  • use proper sanitation practices and safety procedures
  • maintain a current Food Handler’s Card where applicable
  • use cleaning chemicals properly
  • follow dress code
  • perform duties associated with kitchen operations
  • work around various levels of temperature in the kitchen
  • stock and organize daily or weekly deliveries
  • wash dishes, sweep/mop floors, clean and maintain equipment, sanitize utensils, and maintain all areas of the restaurant
