Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum two years of experience in customer service including one year experience in a health care setting
  • Knowledge of reception tasks, clinic policies procedures, patient account policies, paperwork
  • Knowledge of how to use office equipment including phone, computer
  • Knowledge of customer service concepts including importance of appropriate image
  • Knowledge of emergency protocol

Job Duties

  • Greets patients and visitors in a polite, prompt, helpful manner
  • Provides necessary instructions and directions
  • Helps patients needing assistance, involving management as appropriate
  • Provides necessary paperwork such as demographics and privacy forms and obtains signatures
  • Updates patient information in chart
  • Scans insurance cards, verifies insurance eligibility, collects co-pays and co-insurance
  • Receives account payments, provides account balances and issues receipts
  • Maintains strict confidentiality
  • Maintains clean, orderly waiting area including beverage area and reading materials
  • Answers phones in pleasant and timely manner
  • Reconciles daily journals and cash
  • Follows clinical protocol in alerting appropriate personnel in emergencies
  • Participates in education activities
  • Performs other duties as assigned
