This job opportunity is for the position of Patient Concierge at St. Luke's, a vital role that supports the front desk operations of a medical office building (MOB) housing three specialties, along with additional responsibilities in Rheumatology locations. The Patient Concierge plays a key role in creating a unique and exceptional patient experience by serving as a passionate advocate for patients. This role entails facilitating administrative and patient support services, ensuring all patient interactions are handled with politeness, promptness, and compassion. The Patient Concierge is the face of the practice who engages with patients throughout their visit, from check-in to check-out, managing activities such as patient registration, consent processing, eligibility verification, appointment scheduling, payment collection, and addressing inquiries. The position also supports other team members by managing messages and facilitating communication between clinical and administrative staff.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and solution-focused, capable of anticipating patient needs and working collaboratively across departments to enhance the patient experience. Physical requirements for this role include prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking, as well as the use of upper extremities for patient care and clerical tasks. The role demands excellent communication skills, time management abilities, and the capacity to express empathy and compassion. Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum one year of practice-based experience or similar healthcare setting preferred
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods up to 8 hours
  • Ability to use fingers for patient care, writing, and computer entry
  • Capability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to push carts with supplies up to 30 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to push wheelchairs with patients up to 325 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to stoop, bend, and reach above shoulder level
  • Ability to hear normal conversation and maintain good vision including near and peripheral vision

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Engages patients in a polite, prompt, and compassionate manner during all practice-based patient interactions
  • Performs clerical service delivery functions including check-in, patient consent, check-out, pre-registration, real-time eligibility verification, registration, MyChart education, appointment and testing scheduling at check-out, point of service payment collection, and addressing patient inquiries
  • Delivers waiting room concierge service and provides hands-on support to patients utilizing kiosk check-in
  • Facilitates practice opening and closing procedures, maintenance of practice cleanliness, processing incoming mail and deliveries, cash management and reconciliation, and scanning and indexing incoming faxes
  • Supports other practice-based team members by promptly addressing in-basket clerical pool messages
  • Partners with Access Center Patient Engagement Partners to address time-sensitive scheduling requests
  • Facilitates connection from Access Center Clinical Triage Specialists to practice-based care team members for urgent clinical inquiries
  • Maintains a solution-oriented, creative mindset to anticipate and tend to patient needs by collaborating with other organizational team members and departments
