Job Description
St. Luke's University Health Network is a renowned and respected healthcare organization dedicated to delivering exceptional care to patients and communities. With a commitment to excellence, St. Luke's prides itself on the skills, experience, and compassion of its employees, viewing them as the most valuable asset. The organization strives to meet its mission through unwavering dedication to providing care for the sick and injured, educating healthcare professionals such as physicians and nurses, and improving access to healthcare services irrespective of a patient's ability to pay. As a leading healthcare network, St. Luke's offers comprehensive services and focuses on fostering a supportive and patient-centric environment.
The Patient Concierge role at St. Luke's is a vital position focused on advocating for patients and enhancing their experience from the moment they interact with the healthcare facility. This role promotes a culture centered on the patient by delivering administrative and support services within the practice setting. A Patient Concierge acts as the first point of contact and is responsible for facilitating a smooth, compassionate, and efficient patient journey. They not only engage patients with politeness and empathy but also manage essential clerical tasks such as patient check-in, consent collection, appointment scheduling, payment processing, and patient inquiries. This multifaceted role requires keen attention to detail and the ability to handle a variety of operational duties that support clinic workflows and improve patient satisfaction.
Beyond routine clerical functions, the Patient Concierge contributes to maintaining the cleanliness and organization of practice areas, managing incoming communications and deliveries, and supporting cash management processes. Collaboration and coordination with other team members, including Access Center Patient Engagement Partners and Clinical Triage Specialists, are fundamental to addressing scheduling needs and urgent clinical inquiries. This role demands a solution-oriented mindset, creativity, and proactive engagement with both patients and organizational departments to anticipate needs and provide seamless assistance.
In terms of physical demands, the role requires stamina to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods, frequent use of hands for computer and patient care tasks, ability to lift moderate weights occasionally, and sensory acuity such as hearing and vision to perform effectively in a busy healthcare environment. Educationally, a high school diploma or equivalent is required, with preference given to candidates with administrative training and healthcare experience. Prior experience in practice-based or similar healthcare settings, coupled with excellent communication and customer service skills, is preferred.
St. Luke's values individuals who embrace continuous growth, compliance, quality service, and effective time management. The Patient Concierge role is ideal for someone who excels at compassionate communication and is committed to enhancing the patient experience while supporting the daily operations of the healthcare practice. This position offers the opportunity to be part of a dedicated team that impacts patient care positively by ensuring each interaction is handled with care, professionalism, and efficiency. Candidates are encouraged to apply with a complete employment history and relevant credentials and to join an organization that upholds a patient-first philosophy and equal opportunity principles.
