The Patient & Family Concierge role at UPMC Bedford's 3 Main Acute Care unit is an essential position designed to support patients, families, and visitors during their hospital stay. This is a casual position offering flexible work opportunities with rotating day and evening shifts, ideal for high school students who demonstrate care, compassion, and eagerness to contribute to a healthcare setting. The core responsibility of this role is to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere that enhances patient satisfaction and supports smooth hospital operations.

The Concierge performs a variety of tasks across several hospital departments including destination coordination, environmental services, dietary services, transportation, and supply and equipment management. Duties range from greeting and assisting visitors by providing clear directions and escort services, to maintaining cleanliness and organization of patient and public areas within the hospital. Additionally, the Concierge helps in delivering meals according to dietary requirements, transporting patients and equipment safely, and managing inventory for unit supplies.

Working as a Patient & Family Concierge requires a commitment to privacy and confidentiality while disseminating patient information and assisting with hospital policies. The Concierge acts as an informational hub for visitors regarding visiting hours and hospital services and plays a critical role in supporting the clinical staff by responding to patient needs and maintaining the unit environment at the highest standards.
