Currently, UCHealth is seeking Patient Access Specialists for several full-time onsite positions within their ambulatory care settings in Colorado Springs, CO. This role is integral to the patient experience, serving as the first point of contact for patients in primary care and specialty care clinics. Patient Access Specialists are responsible for greeting patients and caregivers, guiding them through the registration and check-in process, and ensuring all insurance details and authorizations are verified accurately. The position requires effective communication with various healthcare professionals, insurance companies, and patients to facilitate a smooth access to healthcare services. UCHealth offers competitive pay rates between $19.67 and $25.57 per hour, dependent on the applicant’s relevant experience.
This position is strictly an onsite role requiring candidates to work within fast-paced environments while demonstrating critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to operate with minimal supervision. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- relevant experience in patient access or registration
- proficiency with computer systems and registration software
- strong communication skills
- ability to handle sensitive patient information confidentially
- capability to work onsite
- ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment with minimal supervision
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous experience in healthcare registration or patient access preferred
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to operate registration software and related technology
- knowledge of insurance verification and medical terminology advantageous
- capability to work efficiently under pressure
- attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
Job Duties
- Meet with patients and/or caregivers to exchange necessary information and documentation
- explain visit details, provide instructions, and address concerns
- communicate with referring providers, clinical departments, and other personnel to exchange information and schedule appointments
- verify insurance benefits and obtain pre-certification/authorization as necessary
- determine and accept required payments including co-pays and deductibles or refer to financial counselors
- ensure all demographic, billing, and clinical information is accurately entered in registration systems
- apply critical thinking and perform duties with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
