Job Requirements

  • Proven experience as a pastry cook or similar role in a professional kitchen environment

  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required in the hospitality industry
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Culinary degree or pastry certification preferred

  • Proven experience as a pastry cook or similar role in a professional kitchen environment
  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques, pastry preparation, and dessert presentation
  • Familiarity with food safety standards and sanitation practices
  • Formal culinary training or certification in pastry arts from an accredited institution
  • Experience working in a high-volume accommodation or food service setting
  • Knowledge of dietary restrictions and ability to prepare gluten-free, vegan, or allergen-friendly pastries
  • Strong organizational skills and experience managing kitchen inventory and ordering supplies
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team

Job Duties

  • Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods according to established recipes and quality standards
  • Develop and test new pastry recipes to keep the menu innovative and appealing to guests
  • Manage inventory of baking supplies and ingredients, ensuring freshness and minimizing waste
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry kitchen in compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Collaborate with kitchen and service teams to coordinate pastry production with overall meal service timing
  • Train and mentor junior pastry staff to uphold quality and consistency in all baked products
  • Monitor and control food costs while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation
