Job Description
Bon Appetit Management Company, a proud member of Compass Group USA, is an industry-leading contract food service company passionate about delivering exceptional culinary experiences and outstanding service. Unlike traditional corporate food service setups, Bon Appetit fosters a culture of creativity and culinary innovation where chefs and managers are empowered to eschew standardized recipes in favor of fresh, trend-forward menu creations. This unique approach allows each dining location to offer individually crafted dishes that reflect current culinary trends and the distinct preferences of its community, providing an exciting and dynamic food environment.
With a rapidly growing portfolio of accounts across various sectors, Bon Appetit offers a vibrant workplace that encourages staff to engage in continuous learning, professional development, and experimentation. This commitment to nurturing talent and promoting creativity ensures that team members can expand their skill sets and advance their culinary careers while making meaningful contributions to the company’s mission of great food and extraordinary service.
The position of Pastry Sous Chef at Bon Appetit in Seattle, WA, offers an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals who thrive in high-energy, entrepreneurial environments. With an annual salary range of $65,000 to $68,000, this full-time role centers on supporting the Executive Chef in overseeing the daily operations of the culinary department. The Pastry Sous Chef plays a vital role in supervising the preparation and presentation of an extensive range of food items, primarily focusing on pastry and dessert offerings.
Key responsibilities include assisting in the development of innovative and appealing menus, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, controlling food costs, and maintaining efficient kitchen operations. The role also encompasses managing preparation processes, garnishing techniques, and executing catering events, all while upholding rigorous standards of sanitation and safety. Additionally, the Pastry Sous Chef is encouraged to collaborate creatively with the marketing and culinary teams to launch new culinary programs that enhance the overall dining experience.
Candidates should bring to the table progressive culinary experience, particularly in kitchen management, with additional catering expertise considered a plus. Knowledge of institutional and batch cooking methods, coupled with familiarity with food cost controls and presentation standards, are highly valued. Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook ensures efficient communication and management practices. While ServSafe certification is highly desirable, the company supports involvement in client satisfaction initiatives and prioritizes a hands-on, team-oriented approach.
Bon Appetit values diversity and is an equal opportunity employer committed to inclusive hiring practices. The company supports associates through comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans, as well as paid time off and unique perks such as pet insurance and commuter benefits. This comprehensive package underscores the company’s dedication to employee well-being and work-life balance.
Join Bon Appetit as a Pastry Sous Chef and become part of a forward-thinking culinary team that celebrates innovation, supports professional growth, and is passionate about delivering exceptional food experiences. This role offers an exceptional pathway for culinary professionals eager to expand their skills, embrace new challenges, and influence the evolving trends of quality foodservice in a dynamic and supportive environment.
