The role of Pastry Prep Cook at The Indigo Road Hospitality Group is a unique opportunity for culinary professionals who have a passion for baking and a keen interest in perfecting their craft. If you are someone who has always been excited by expertly produced pastries and baked goods, this position allows you to work alongside experienced pastry chefs and be part of a creative culinary team dedicated to excellence. As a Pastry Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and baking a variety of desserts and baked goods, closely following standardized recipes to ensure consistent quality and flavor. You will assist in executing the pastry chef's vision, learning new techniques, and enhancing your baking skills in a fast-paced and supportive environment.

Daily duties include adhering to portion sizes and cooking methods, maintaining rigorous kitchen cleanliness and sanitation standards, and supporting the overall pastry workflow by completing prep lists and closing checklists for your shift. This role requires close collaboration with kitchen managers and other culinary staff to promptly address any shortages or quality concerns, and to ensure all health department regulations are met. The position typically involves working a morning shift from 6 am to 2 pm and includes standing, walking, and physical activity such as stooping and lifting. A flexible schedule is key, with work on weekends and holidays as needed.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience working in a pastry kitchen, a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to work well within a team. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of one year experience in a pastry kitchen preparing and cooking
  • Positive energy and team player mentality
  • Ability to speak, read and understand basic baking and cooking directions
  • Effective communication skills
  • Flexible schedule to work mornings, days, weekends and holidays
  • Availability to work 6am-2pm shift
  • Ability to stand and walk constantly with occasional stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling or lifting

Job Qualifications

  • At least one year experience in a pastry kitchen preparing and cooking
  • Positive energy and readiness to assist fellow support staff
  • Ability to speak, read and understand basic baking and cooking directions
  • Effective communication skills with managers, employees and guests
  • Ability to work as a team player

Job Duties

  • Prepare all dessert and baked good items on the menu using standard recipe card for preparation of all products
  • Adhere to standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the pastry chef or manager-on-duty
  • Complete a daily prep list and closing checklist for each shift for assigned duties while maintaining a clean and sanitary work station
  • Adhere to all DHEC regulations including tables, shelves, walls, ovens, pastry/dessert equipment and refrigeration equipment
  • Promptly report all product shortages, equipment problems or food quality issues to pastry chef or executive chef
